Community House
If you are new in town or are not familiar with the history of the Red River Community House, you should know that it has served the community of Red River in a grand manner, fulfilling the promise carried by its name which was chosen in 1940 when the idea of a central meeting place was born.
There’s a bulletin board on the wall by the heavy wooden door on the front of the Red River Community House. It’s a good place to find out times and details of activities and events which are planned for the week at the classic big log building on Main Street, Red River, USA.

Since opening the big ornate doors in the early 1940s, the Red River Community House has been a center of fun and activity, friendship and fellowship for generations of visitors to the high country of Northern New Mexico.

It is arguably the first purpose-built church facility, hosting Sunday worship services, weddings and funerals. It has also been a school and a lecture hall, a game room, a dance hall, a party room for Halloween kids and New Year’s Eve family style celebrations and… Ah, there is the key word that best describes what the RRCH has been for eight decades: a celebration!

Things kick off in early June and run to early October, with activities and events every day, over 450 as noted by New Mexico True. That does not count sitting in a comfortable rocking chair on the Community House front porch and enjoying the mountain scenery and the sights of Main Street.
Storytelling around a campfire, boat-building for the kids and family, s’mores night, Movies On The Lawn, geocaching, line dancing, Hobbies in the House crafts with Kathy Pekrul, painting with Eukie, fly fishing with guide Jeff Fagan, Red River History Hike, Music In The Mountains Concert Series, Jammin’ on the Porch, yoga, flower walks…
