Gunfights – A Tradition

Once there was a bank in Red River that had little security. In fact, the bank was robbed three times a week during the summer for over 50 years. The robbers never got away with it and were usually caught and “shot” by the local Marshal. Well, that is still going on at Frye’s Old Town on Main Street on Thursdays and Saturdays at 4 PM. It’s a Red River tradition and there’s no charge to watch, for that’s part of the tradition.

A frequent addition to the event is a performance by Native American dancers from the nearby Taos Pueblo to add a little local culture.
