Best Western International, headquartered in Phoenix AZ recently honored two Red Riverites during a National Conference in Toronto, Canada.
Courtney Henderson, owner of Best Western River’s Edge in Red River for the past 7½ years, received the Best Western Chairman’s Award, the hotel chain’s highest honor for outstanding quality standard. The Chairman’s Award recognizes Best Western International hotels with a cleanliness and maintenance inspection scoring in the top 5 percent of more than 2,100 North American properties.
Mitul “Mike” Patel, property manager of the Best Western River’s Edge in Red River. was given the Heroic Hospitality Stars Award as Employee of the Year. The honor recognizes individuals who have demonstrated superior customer care and professionalism by consistently delivering a high level of service to guests. The award was for Front Desk Service and he was one of only seven hotel employees to receive this award out of all staff at over 2,100 properties in the U.S. and Canada.
For Courtney, attending the Best Western Convention in Toronto was an exciting experience and the awards for himself and Mike were well-earned and greatly appreciated.
“It means a lot to me because we started off being rated pretty low,” says Courtney. “They (Best Western Int.) are wanting to go to newer construction. A lot of the older exterior corridor properties are phasing out. We were kind of on that list because we’re not that big.” The Red River Best Western was built in 1999.
“We’ve been working like crazy to keep up with the standards and we’ve finally caught up!”
