Mardi Gras in the Mountains
February 8-13, 2018: Red River’s favorite winter celebration – six days of music, balls, food, parades, beads and costumes!
The Mardi Gras first came to Red River in 1992 with a handful of bead-toss parades at the Red River Ski Area, a few crawfish and shrimp dining opportunities, and some live Cajun music which had everybody dancing and left one and all wanting more. The year 1993 saw even more events and parties.
The 2018 edition of Mardi Gras in the Mountains will bring 6 days of balls, bead tosses, parades, costumes, cajun food and contests from February 8 through the 13th – Fat Tuesday! This year’s theme is Romance on the Rio. Live music will be everywhere with Forest Huval and Bon Temps bringing Cajun and Zydeco sounds straight from the bayous. Don’t miss the excitement of the Burning of the Loup Garou, the annual Drink Making Contest, and much more! Get ready to eat lots of mudbugs, shrimp and gumbo.
