Peak Fitness About Wellness

It’s been nearly two years in the making, but Rachel Lang held on to her goal of providing a place to help people enjoy a healthy life in the mountains by staying fit year-round. A cancer survivor, she knows the value of eating right, exercise and physical conditioning.

Peak Fitness – phone 575-377-5817 – is located at the corner of Main Street and Bunker Hill Trail, next door to the Lifts West Condos. It offers an opportunity for a workout on top-notch gym equipment in Red River at your convenience.

Peak Fitness is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! It has memberships available for locals, but also has plans designed for visitors who will only be in town a few days, but who would like to maintain a workout regime. It is also a good opportunity for skiers to get in shape for a run at the mountains.

“For instance we have a Ladies Only Circuit Training,” says Phil Yarbrough, Certified Trainer and co-owner, “ Three days a week, two classes. 5:45 am and 8 am. We’ve had women here from age 27 to 72. There are six stations and it’s all different muscle groups: one day is for upper body, another day for legs and one day is nothing but abs. It’s 45 seconds work, 15 seconds break. It gets your heart rate up, works muscles and gives you an aerobic workout, too.

Yarbrough’s experience as a trainer in the Army for 11 years provides a level of professional service comparable to large urban gyms. He also confesses to being a “gym rat” and, like Rachel, is an advocate of the benefits of physical conditioning and health, as well as mental health.

Peak Fitness also sells vitamins and supplements as part of the regimen. Their goal is to provide a way to enjoy the wonders of being in Red River.
