Gunfight at the Not-So-OK Corral
It's 4 o'clock in the afternoon and the sun is high in the sky above the quiet Red River Valley, a valley so peaceful somebody just had to write a song about it. (It's a good song, so don't be self-conscious. Hum it if you like - you're among friends here who are probably tone deaf, too.)
Suddenly the tranquility is disrupted by the sound of obnoxious talking and laughter. The Bad Guy and his gang of equally Bad Hooligans have come to town to drink rotgut booze, dance with the Pretty Saloon Girls - ladies who came to town "unescorted by their mothers" - and maybe... just maybe.... rob the Red River Bank!
Enter the Sheriff, with a large pistol and an even larger cowboy hat. He has vowed to keep the streets of Frye's Old Town safe for honest citizens, and he will do just that, even if he has to shoot every last Bad Guy and Bad Hooligan in the wild, wild west.
All in a day's work, you might say.
Thus the stage is set for the Frye's Old Town Bank Robbery and Shootout, 4 PM every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through mid-August.
This comic look at the Gunfight in the Streets is rated "FFWF" for "Fun For the Whole Family." It's been delighting audiences for over 40 years, a Red River Main Street tradition.
Following the show, you'll have a chance to meet the cast of characters and get a free autograph. Don't forget to go inside and see the famous Winchester gun collection.
It's corny. It's fun. It's free. Enjoy.
