Pedal Power on Top of the World
Introduction
Connie & Frank Venaglia
Some of the locals' favorite rides include:
· Red River nature trail that starts right across the river from Capo's
· Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski Area, offering rides for all ability levels
· Red River Ski Area, offering uphill chair lift service;
· Old Red River pass
· Pioneer canyon, offering some exciting single track
· Wild Rivers, with miles of well groomed trails and views of the Red River and Rio Grande canyon.
Wherever you choose to ride, be safe and courteous and follow some simple rules:
1. Ride on designated trails only.
2. Always ride in control.
3. Yield right of way to slower trail users.
4. Respect trail closures and no trespassing signs.
5. Plan ahead.
6. Always yield to hikers and horseback riders.
7. Be respectful of the mountain environment and tread lightly, always staying on the trail.
Another favorite activity, and a unique feature in Red River, is the surrey ride. These 2 and 4-seater bikes have been a fun way to get around town here in Red River for years. It's fun to ride one of these alternative forms of transportation around town. The basket up front will hold a lot of stuff if you happen to find something in one of the many gift shops.
