What's New In Town This Summer

Chef Roberto Check 'Em Out

If you are a regular summer visitor to Red River, you'll notice some new places and faces, as well as some familiar faces and places with a new look.

Roberto's Fiesta Restaurant is located in the Lifts West Condominiums on Main Street and features a variety of Mexican food, as well as American favorites such as Pizza and burgers. Chef Roberto Baños, with over 30 years experience in the restaurant business brings his talent from Dallas. Expect fresh ingredients and dishes cooked from scratch, as well as the creative use of interesting spices. Hours are 7 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week during season.

Angel's Coyotes (formerly Angelina's) on West Main Street will reopen its doors this season with a variety of Mexican and American food including steak, trout and shrimp.

Paula and Ben Richey of Mountain Treasures Gallery added The Gallery Coffee Bar last winter for the convenience of its patrons. This summer they've added a few new local and regional artists to their fine selection of art and they've added The Bistro, under the direction of bistromeister Michael Swain, offering a variety of deli meats, cheeses and accessories perfect for a picnic. There is also a new outside deck for scenic relaxation and special events, including acoustic music performances.

Bakery, Bowkayes & Beyond is the newest bakery in town, located in the Timbers Restaurant on West Main. They'll offer typical bakery fare: pastries, donuts, cookies and yummy cinnamon rolls, breads cakes pies, etc. as well as gift baskets for special occasions.

Last fall the Red River Inn on West Main converted the lodge into an eclectic group of shops and service-oriented businesses. Red River Inn Shops is the result of that conversion. Businesses include The Candy Crate which specializes in home-made fudge as well as a variety of sweet tooth delights; Alyce's Cabin, with a variety of quilts, teapots and decorative items; Red Garter Old Time Photos which has a new location in the main building has enlarged to include The Basket Case Country Store with unique country style gifts and collectables; The Yoga Room which offers yoga classes, books videos and supplies; Mountain Institute with meditation classes, herbs and nutritional counseling; and Massage Therapy for relaxation and injury and sports therapy. "The Cowboy Saves The Day - Again!" (Part II, The Sequel) No, it's not the latest B-western movie, but the newest production of the Red River Inn's Melodrama held in the Mine Shaft Theatre Tuesday and Friday nights at 7:30 PM. It's a cheer-the-hero and boo-the-villain show, featuring a pure-hearted cowboy, a virtuous damsel in distress and a dastardly villain who....well, we don't want to give away the ending.
