A short walk across nearby Brandenburg Park is the Red River Conference Center and Enchanted Circle Interpretive Center, which can also answer your vacation questions or help you plan for future family or business gatherings here at the top of the world. P.S. They also show free movies for the family on occasion. It's fun. Both Town Hall and the Conference Center have public restroom facilities. Speaking of Brandenburg Park, it's located in the middle of town on Main Street and is often the center of summer activities. Mallette Park is a bit harder to find, located on Mallette Canyon Road. In addition to a spectacular setting, there are facilities there for basketball, volleyball, a tennis court and a special skateboard park for the youngsters. There's also a championship Disc Golf course which is the site of the annual Red River Disc Golf Tournament in the fall. If you need more specific forest info, the Questa Ranger District office has temporarily relocated from its riverside location north of Questa to a new location in the old La Cienega School site in Questa. The new location is off of State Highway 38 about 1.5 miles west of the current location. The relocation is necessary due to construction of new office facilities, and should continue for the next year and a half. A sign designating the new locati on will be placed at the entrance to the temporary offices on the south side of State Highway 38. For more information on the relocation contact the Questa Ranger District at 505-586-0520 or the Carson National Forest Supervisor's Office at 505-758-6200. For more information on the Carson National Forest visit the web at www.fs.fed.us/r3/carson. Town Hall is located in the heart of town on Main Street, next to the Red River Community House and houses town governmental offices. The Motor Vehicle Department, Marshal's Office, the Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services and Search and Rescue are all housed in this building. If you do have an emergency, Red River is a 911 Town, so call it if you need to for the Marshal's Office, Fire, Search and Rescue and ambulance personnel. Mogul Medical Clinic provides full clinical services and specializes in the treatment of Altitude Sickness. The clinic is located at the foot of the "Face," in the Lift House building of the Red River Ski Area and is open daily during most of summer season, staffed by P.A. Matt Prewitt. First Baptist Church of Red River, Faith Mountain Fellowship and St. Edwin's Catholic Church welcome worshippers. The Red River Community House also holds Sunday service in summer. The Red River Public Library is located on East Main at "The Y" and is open to the public year-round. In addition to a great collection of books, there is free Internet service available and an ongoing book sale by Friends of the Library. Park your car and leave it parked. Take a break from steering wheel stress. Ride the Miner's Transit. It's a great way to see the town. It travels on a semi-regular schedule during summer but - you're gonna love this - you can also call 770-5959 for a special ride and be picked up and delivered. ![]() |
