Want to explore the great outdoors? The Carson National Forest is full of trails that you can hike or bike, with many starting right in town - nature trail, Mallette, Pioneer. You can also ride the new platinum chairlift up the hill, with your mountain bike if you like (Sitzmark rents them.) The Tip Restaurant is up there when you’re ready to sit down, have lunch and enjoy the gorgeous scenery from their deck.

Looking for a touch of cowboy life? Go see the Bank Robbery and Shoot Out at Frye’s Old Town on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 4 PM. In the mood for some cowboy grub and music by a roaring fire under the stars? Try a Bobcat Pass Cowboy Evening with Dutch oven cooking featuring melt-in-your-mouth marinated steaks or chicken and all the trimmings. There’s live cowboy music and rope throwing for the kids. They also offer horseback rides, as does Red River Stable, to complete your cowboy experience

Like wheels? Visit Sitzmark and rent a diggler, an all terrain scooter, or a mountain board (like a snowboard with wheels) to coast down the hills. Want something a little tamer? Try a surrey for the whole family to pedal around town. Visit the skateboard area in Mallette Park or take a Go-Kart ride at Go-Kart City next to Der Markt. Lots of rolling to do in Red River.

Prefer active sports? Mallette Park also has a frisbee golf course as well as tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts. There’s also lots of playground equipment for the kids.

Need pampering? Go shopping and get the perfect outfit, accessory or a new piece of jewelry. Follow that by a visit to a local massage therapist or the day spa, the ultimate in relaxation. Then sit outside with your beverage of choice and enjoy the hummingbirds and the cool mountain evening.

Historically minded? Check out the Red River Historical Museum in the Little Red Schoolhouse or the photo exhibit at the library or take an historical trolley ride with guide Miss Fifi. Visit the Elizabethtown Museum between Red River and Eagle Nest (a little past the dragon on the right) or the new Enchanted Circle Gateway Museum in Eagle Nest. Make your own history with a family photo from Southern Exposure to remember your vacation by.

Prefer to explore in a motorized vehicle? You can rent or take your own ATV or Jeep and explore the high mountain trails. Want to learn more about the area and its history? Take a guided Jeep Tour up to Greenie Peak or Bobcat Pass, catch the scenery, learn a few facts and hear lots of tall tales as well.
