Let's Go Snowmobiling Snomobiles

Home Art Scene The Bars Fun Stuff Snomobiling Resources
Since its inception in the 1930s, snowmobiling has seen some colorful names in the manufacturing field: Lombard Log Hauler, Snow Bird, Snow Flyer, Huskymobile, Bosak Power Toboggan, Eskymobile, Stiltmobile, Eliason Motor Toboggan, Lorch Snowplane, Call Air Snowcar, Fudge Snow Sedan, Arctic Glider, Autoboggan, Tucker Snow-Cat, Boggona Motorized Toboggan, Davreux Snowplane, Snowbug, and Leschasin Motor Toboggan.

Snowmobiles first made their Red River appearance in the mid 1960s, coinciding with the growth of the snowmo manufacturing industry. Originally used as business machines to traverse the snowy regions of the Northern United States and Canada, the recreational value became quickly apparent and, by the early 80s, snowmobile tour companies were taking visitors to the high country around Red River for a rare glimpse of winter from the top of the world.

There are four companies with a combined total of one hundred machines in the Red River area that offer guided snowmobile tours. They can provide you with a variety of professional tours through different parts of the forest on groomed and ungroomed trails and meadows.

There's a warming hut at the foot of Greenie Peak, which provides a great place to have a picnic.

P.S. Bring your own grub but leave the grog behind - snowmobiling and alcohol are a tragedy waiting to happen.
