Check It Out: There Are Some New Faces

Candy Crate at the Red River Inn One of Red River's landmarks on Main Street, the Red River Inn, will enter a new phase this winter. The lodging portion of the complex will no longer be rented to tourists and the L-shaped motel area behind the main building has been revamped to provide offices, shops, studios and two room apartments for long-term monthly rentals. A number of spaces are already taken, including a yoga studio rented by Dirk Arnold, who has been teaching traditional lyengar Style Yoga for five years. Linda Saint will have an antique and collectable shop and Alyce's Shop of Many Treasures will be open. You'll still be able to get a therapeutic massage at the Inn, and Mountain Institute remains timeless.

Red River's first commercial workout center, Outermotions, is now located at the front of the Main Street building of Red River Inn, next to the Candy Crate - ask about the fresh fudge. The fitness center gives vacationers and locals alike the chance to stay healthy and happy.

Former Toni & Guy (Dallas) hair stylist Vicki Richardson, previously at Red River Hair Salon, is opening Aspen Hair Salon in the J. Griffin Co. building this winter. She specializes in the latest trends, as well as tried and true "standards."

If a day of skiing is in your plans, the Lift House Bar located at the foot of the Red Chair lift will be serving food this season for your convenience. It's also a great place for après ski, with an outdoor deck that faces "the Face."

Another new eatery is Mountain Village Diner, located by downtown Brandenburg Park. Devin and Kyle (not their real names) will be open 7 AM to 7 PM with breakfast, lunch and dinner: bacon and eggs, burgers, dogs, chili, etc.
