Goose Lake Trail (above)

Located at 11.712 feet above sea level, Goose Lake Trail is a very popular trail so you may encounter other ROVs on the way up, down, and around the trail. Forest Road 486 is not a road for people who are nervous with others riding along steep drop offs. This 8 mile one way drive can take anywhere between 1.5 hours to 2 hours to get to the top, depending on traffic and if you decide to stop and look around. The trail is really busy during the summer months and the parking lot at the top can become overcrowded easily. 4X4 is required but passenger vehicles are not recommended due to the narrow trail. Be sure to keep your eyes out for old mining cabins along the way up.

Greenie Peak (above)

Explore this moderately challenging trail on your ROV with friends as you head on up to the tallest point you can drive to in New Mexico. This popular trail has its quiet times of the day and there are many trails in this area that fork off on more trails. Luckily for you there are signs that can help you out if you think you may be lost.

Pioneer Creek Trail (above)

Beginning at the Red River Ski Area, this moderate off-road trail is one you have to do at least once every time you visit. Just a little over 3 miles long you can drive along the creek. As you begin your drive up you will pass an old mining cave that you have to stop and go inside. Feel the cool air as soon as you step inside the cave. Stop and listen to some of the small beautiful waterfalls as you’re driving.

Take the opportunity to rent a ROV or bring your own and experience a trip of a lifetime. These trails are the most popular trails to access in Red River.
