Red River Ski Area goes tropical with Beach Weeks, its annual Spring Break celebration. Tank tops, Hawaiian shirts, hula skirts and even the occasional bikini can be seen flying down the slopes. There’s an abundance of activities including ski races, rail jams, torchlight parades and fireworks, live music, winter tubing, après-ski specials, beach parties, and Kids’ Glow Stick Parade.
Spring Break and the season go out with a splash at the very entertaining Pond Skim contest on March 19 where participants ski or ride down The Face and attempt to skim across a temporary pond at the base of the mountain. The fun’s open to all, but if you’d rather watch, join the crowd of spectators/hecklers on the Lift House deck.
