See Them All On Wildlife TV

For nature lovers who enjoy the experience of seeing the animals that roam the forests and neighborhoods of Northern New Mexico, local photographer, Todd Michael, created the Red River Wildlife TV channel on YouTube. On this channel, you’ll enjoy watching animals do what they do in 1080P Hi-Definition, both day and night.

Todd is a photographer doing work for the Red River Miner newspaper, as well as for various businesses and the Town of Red River, covering events and activities around the area.

When asked what his inspiration was for creating the Red River Wildlife TV YouTube channel, he said, “It was really about the animals and our fascination with them. For example, many people come to Red River with hopes of seeing a bear while they’re on vacation, and have been doing so for many years, but have never seen one. Then there’s the town deer and ducks. We all see them and understand their behavior, but what about the other critters we see little of? What do they do when no one’s watching or at night?”

He shared his technique with us too, adding “I have a small army of trail or game cameras, which are predominately used by hunters to scout locations for upcoming hunts. The cameras are motion activated and record photos and/or video.

Todd deploys his cameras in areas where animal activity is recent or suspected. He’s been asked to install cameras on private property, as well as locations where people have seen signs of activity and they just want to know for certain what’s out there. In these cases, the cameras are rarely left more than a few weeks. In other situations, he said he’ll leave a camera in an area much longer when he’s after a certain animal. At the time of this writing, one of his cameras has been on location for over eight months! What will he capture on that video? He assured us he’ll upload the footage to Red River Wildlife TV.

When asked when his cameras are the most active, he said “Mostly in the warmer months, as that’s when the animals are all out and it’s easier for me to get out there as well. During this past winter, I had multiple cameras on private property looking for a bobcat family. Imagine my surprise when I saw a mountain lion, bobcat, coyotes, deer, and a raccoon traipsing around behind the homeowner’s house at night!”

If his videos sound interesting, he concluded with “It’s free TV that people can watch on YouTube using their phones, a computer, or their smart TVs. They can just sit back and relax. It’s like looking out the window of a cabin in the woods to watch the animals behaving as they do.”

To date, he has shared more than 20 videos. To visit his channel, search YouTube.com for “Red River Wildlife TV” and subscribe if you’d like to be notified when he uploads exciting new videos.
