The Red River Ski & Summer Area opened its doors in winter of 1959-60 and became immediately known as a great place to learn Alpine (Downhill) skiing. It maintains that reputation into the 21st century and is proud of the level of teaching it has established. It is also dedicated to providing a quality winter experience with a lifetime of memories for outdoor enthusiasts.

Known as the Ski Town of the Southwest because of its location in the heart of the town of Red River, RRSA partners with the U.S. Forest Service to offer over 209 skiable acres, with 7 lifts and 63 trails, 3 terrain parks and a glade area.

The Platinum Triple Chair Lift runs from the Lift House to The Tip Restaurant at the top of the mountain and is the most popular lift winter and summer.

The Emerald Quad Chair lift is also a favorite and allows for quicker and greater access to the gentle slopes of Summit Camp and acts as a portal to terrain served by the Silver Chair lift.

Elevation is 10,350 at the top, with a vertical drop of 1,600 feet to 8,750 feet at the Lift House at the juncture of Pioneer Road and River Street, next to the Red River that gives the town its name.

RRSA offers convenient computer reservations online for lift tickets, equipment rentals, lessons for all level of skiers and Buckaroo Day Camp for the wee ones.

In addition to the main Chalet on Pioneer Road which houses the RRSA Ski Shop, the Fanny Pack (accessories and clothing), and the Southern Exposure photo booth, there is also a Chalet cafeteria, The Tip Restaurant at the top of the mountain and The Grill at the Lift House (Après-ski bar and restaurant) at the bottom of The Face.

Active duty, reserve, and retired military including direct dependents receive discount lift tickets.

During summer there are a variety of activities on the mountain, with the scenic chair lift to the top of the mountain, Hidden Treasure Aerial Park, Pioneer Flyer Seated Zip Line, Summer Tubing, Mountain Disc Golf and the popular Walk With A Ranger program.
