The Highway 38 Houndogs are named for the NM highway that runs through the heart of town.

A genuine Texas Aggie and a ding dong daddy from Dumas,  Jeff Fagan has lived full-time in Red River for 23 years after retiring as a troubadour road warrior. In 2006, he began working with Michael Smith and John Wicinske, playing Honky Tonk Americana. Wicinske moved back to Wisconsin and Ry Taylor joined the pack. The trio will be seen in town all summer.

Amarillo native Smith moved to Red River in his teens. He’s a wrangler/tour guide at Bobcat Pass Adventures and entertains at the Cowboy Evenings. Fagan and Smith frequently perform as a duo with a repertoire of genuine country, classic rock and blues, as well as original songs about life in the high country.

The 2019 Memorial Day Motorcycle Rally saw a pair of special concerts this year with 90s chart toppers Warrant and Lita Ford, a hard rock female trailblazer.

Michael Martin Murphey’s American Westfest returns to downtown Red River July 11-14. Murph also appears at the Rockin’ 3M Ranch in July and August.

The Bull O’ The Woods 80th anniversary celebration will have a big Anniversary Bash on July 12, with special guest Syd Masters, singer of traditional western music.

Larry Joe Taylor’s Hot Chili Days, Cool Mountain Nights music festival and Chili Cookoff is August 14-17, at Brandenburg Park, The Motherlode, Lost Love Saloon and The Tip at Red River Ski & Summer Area.

The Southwest Pickers 45th Annual Bluegrass and Traditional Music Festival has changed its September gathering to August 22 – 25 – no chilly night shows!

The 5th Annual Red River Folk Festival at Aspencade will be September 19-22 and accompanies the fall festival arts and crafts celebration in Brandenburg Park.

The Red River Ski & Summer Area’s Music at the Top offers free live acoustic entertainment at The Tip Restaurant from mid-June thru August. The concerts are free. Lift tickets are not.

Red River Brewing Company will have live entertainment most weekends. Major Bean Coffee & Sandwich Co. has Sunday afternoon music and special shows.

The Lost Love Saloon has nightly entertainment with Mike Addington and the Motherlode features bands on weekends and special dates.
