Lovilla Bowser

Lovilla Bowser, 81 year-old Woodward resident, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022 at her home in Woodward. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the First Christian Church with Reverend Ronnie Hopkins officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Lovilla Kay (Frye) Bowser was born on November 29, 1940 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Garnett Leroy and Georgia Thurlene (Trego) Frye. Lovilla grew up in Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School. She was united in marriage to Gerald Robert “Gary” Bowser on March 30, 1958 at the First Christian Church in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Woodward and lived in Red River, New Mexico where she and Gary owned and operated Frye’s Old Town for many years. Lovilla was an artist, designer, a great sales woman, and was also a counselor at Monte Vista Church Camp. Lovilla enjoyed painting, shopping, and buying for stores at the Denver and Dallas markets. She also loved being with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gary Bowser of the home; one son, Tyler Bowser and wife April; one daughter, Toni Bowser McQueen and husband Jim; one sister, Mona Story and husband Keith; grandchildren: Carl Gundrum, Dakota Bowser; great-grandchildren, Calvin and Conner Gundrum; mother-in-law, Margurette Bowser who will celebrate her 107th birthday in September; sister-in-law, Regina Bowser Wellman, nephew Jason Bowser, niece, Stacy Story Kindred, niece, Chasity Bowser; nephew, Tray Story; other relatives and friends.

Lovilla was preceded in death by her parents, Garnett and Thurlene Frye, grandparents, Robert and Emma Frye, Mother Bill, great uncle, Orland Trego, father-in-law, Gerald Bowser and brother-in-law, John Bowser. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
