Meet Jenna Knox-Grubbs and her friend Lexi. While Lexi is not an employee, her job is to patrol Jenna’s office in the Ski Area Chalet and greet everyone who might stop by to visit.

Jenna is the Ski School Administrator at the Red River Ski & Summer Area for the upcoming ski season 2015-2016.

In the summer, she has plenty on her plate as the Summer Activities Program Coordinator, overseeing and being hands-on with the various activities such as Walk With A Ranger, the Pioneer Flyer zip line, the chair lift ride, tubing and the new Hidden Treasures Aerial Park Rope Course Challenge.

Indiana born, she came to the RRSA in winter of 2014-15 from the Philmont Scout Ranch in nearby Cimarron NM and has been responsible for bringing some top-notch people with her in an effort to make the Ski Area a beehive of fun and adventure, and a quality experience for summer visitors.

Her first experience with the Winter season in Red River came in 2014-2015 and it gave her an interesting insight into the service industry and the hospitality business that defines Red River.

There were several surprises for her, but the biggest and most apparent were the attitudes of the customers and the difference between summer tourists and winter visitors.

“The summer crowd is very different from the winter crowd. They are more relaxed and very open to having new adventures, while the winter visitors are more focused on just getting on the mountain.”

She is also aware that some folks thrive in the cold and are stimulated and inspired by the winter weather.

“They really do love to see it snow while they’re here.”

Winter or summer, Jenna subscribes to the RRSA philosophy that looks to provide a great experience to everyone.
