Need An Event Planned?

Karen Kelly

The decorated window of Karen Kelly’s office in the Miners Building at 612 W. Main gives more than a hint of what KWK Events has to offer, but the real clincher is the sign at the top: JUST MARRIED.

“KWK Events is a wedding and events planning service,” Karen says, “a one-stop shop for any wedding or event needs. We have several partners with this business: we can accommodate a bachelor party, rehearsal dinners, full weddings at various locations in Red River, as well as Angel Fire. We also do receptions. Plus, any type of special event that you’d like to put together – such as retreats, reunions, award banquets… you name it.”

Karen has been involved in wedding planning “at every resort I’ve worked at for the past 32 years” but the secret of success is simple: location, location, location.

“Hey, look around and tell me how you could find a more beautiful setting?”

The former Economic Development Director in Angel Fire and former Director of the Red River Chamber of Commerce, she’s no stranger to the organization and promotion of special events.

She recently worked with the Alpine Lodge to utilize the Brass Rail – a theatre, gallery, display space, meeting room and banquet hall – as witnessed by an exciting upcoming event set for July.

The 3rd Annual Wild Rivers Plein Air Paint-Out: Places We Love Around Questa is set for July 17 – July 22. Artists from around the southwest gather to paint the dramatic landscape of the Wild Rivers area of the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument and the charming historic sites around the village of Questa. This year’s paint-out honors the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic River Act.

You can watch the artists paint during the ‘Quick Draw’ event from 9-12 noon in Red River. Later in the evening, from 5-7 PM come to the Brass Rail Theater at the Alpine Lodge to view the results of the paint-out. Artwork created by over 45 different plein air artists will be on display and for sale during the Wild Rivers Plein Air Paint-Out Show.

Karen is excited to see this unique event in the Brass Rail for two reasons. First, the show illustrates the cooperative relationship between Questa and Red River. Second, the Brass Rail is a quality showcase for a quality event.
